Disposal of Unwanted Medicines

It’s common to find out‑of‑date or unwanted medicines in your home medicine cabinet or first‑aid box. However, it’s important that these items are disposed of safely to protect both your household and the environment.

It is not unusual to have out of date or unwanted medicines in your medical cabinets or first aid boxes at home.
However, it’s important that these items are disposed of safely to protect both your household and the environment.
Always read the leaflets accompanying your medicines for further advice.
You can bring any unwanted or out‑of‑date medicines to Wessex Pharmacies, where our team will safely dispose of them using our DOOP service. This service is regulated by the Environment Agency, which collects and manages these medicines from our pharmacies at regular intervals.
Unfortunately, we cannot accept chemicals or syringes and you should contact your local Council for assistance.
